Welcome to ProfitablePoker.net, your guide to making money playing online poker.  This site focuses strictly on Texas Holdem, since that is the most popular online game.  Part of the secret to making money online is to play the game that has the most beginners.  Because of the huge popularity of Texas Holdem on TV these days, it has the most beginners, and thus, it is the easiest game for making money.  But making money isn't automatic, you will need to play smart poker.

This site is primarily for beginners, but experienced players can also benefit.  The main focus of this site is making money at online poker.  This is accomplished not only by employing sound strategies in your play, but also through using strategies in picking the best games, and following sound money management strategies.

This site is separated into a few major categories, as detailed below:

Online Poker Sites - A list of sites that allow US players and a ranking of those sites based on variety of games, playability, strength of players, bonuses offered, and other factors.

Cash Games - Cash games, also known as "ring games" are games where real money is wagered (as opposed to chips as in tournaments).  These tables will have a maximum "buy-in" based on the level of the blinds.  These types of games are where money can be made or lost most quickly.

Sit and Go Tournaments - Sit and Go Tournaments are those where a set number of players are seated and are all given the same amount of chips at the beginning after paying a set buy-in amount.  The proceeds of the buy-ins are allocated to the top remaining players, usually the top three places.

Multi-Table Tournaments - Multi-Table Tournaments are tournaments where an unlimited number of players are allowed to join (and alternates are often allowed to join after the tournament starts).  The potential return on these tournaments is much higher than on Sit and Go Tournaments, and payouts are made to a number of remaining players based on the initial number of entrants (for example, a tournament of 100 players may pay out to the top 10 players, where a tournament of 500 players may pay out to the top 50 players).

Poker Books and Videos - The best poker books and videos are here.  There are even poker videos on demand so you can start learning in minutes.

Texas Holdem Rules - The basic rules on how to play Texas Holdem.  If you are new to Texas Holdem, make sure you know the rules fully before you start playing for real money.
